What You'll Do:

As a Behavioral Counsellor, you’ll provide direct support to individuals in a residential setting, helping them develop essential life skills and overcome challenges. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting individuals with special needs in daily activities.
  • Assessing individuals' skills and development needs.
  • Implementing behavior management programs.
  • Providing conflict resolution and crisis intervention.
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals.
  • Coordinating with social services, healthcare providers, and other professionals.
  • Tracking and evaluating program outcomes.

Key Skills: Communication, teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking, organization, and adaptability.

Work Setting: Residential care environment, supporting individuals of all ages.

Education & Experience

Minimum Requirement: At least one year of study in a relevant field (e.g., Developmental Services, Community Services, Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Criminology).

Experience: One year preferred.

Certifications (Required or Preferred)

  • Child and Youth Care Worker (CYW) Diploma
  • Developmental Service Worker (DSW) Diploma
  • Social Service Worker (SSW) Diploma
  • Social Service Worker – Gerontology Diploma
  • Community Support Worker (CSW) Diploma
  • Human Services Diploma
  • First Aid & CPR Certification

Work Details:

  • Main Office Location: 1395 Youville Drive, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada K1C 4R1
  • Work locations: Orleans and surrounding areas

Position Availability:

As a Behavioral Counsellor, we offer both full-time positions (30–40 hours per week) and part-time positions (15–20+ hours per week). Since residential care is an essential service operating year-round, employees must be available for daytimeevening shiftsweekends, and holidays.

Schedule: Flexible shifts available (8, 10, or 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays).

  • Salary: $22.00–$24.00 per hour (Rate includes the permanent wage enhancement and is available for the duration of the applicable legislation.)
  •  Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent.
