The decision to put my son in a group home was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life; The idea of 'complete strangers' looking after my little boy was, frankly: Terrifying, especially given his multiple special needs.
It was not long after that these 'total strangers' became my sons' family in every sense of the word. I honestly can never say enough good about Bairn Croft, their staff, their services and what they have done for my son.
Since moving in with them, he has taken his first steps – ever – at sixteen years old: He eats a far, far greater variety of healthy food (though he still loves his Timbits!!!) - His social outings are varied, as is his exercise about the community.
When my son first moved in, they told me I would get sick of seeing the Bairn Croft phone number because they would call for *everything* - any scrape, any bump, any mark: The idea being that whenever I showed up unannounced, I would already know the story behind whatever I saw: They have kept their end of that bargain to a 'T' - Not only has there never been any surprises when I've shown up: Planned or unannounced, but they - and my son - have been genuinely happy to see me and to give me all the latest he's been up to.
If you asked me to come up with a 'negative' about Bairn Croft - honestly, from the bottom of my heart: The only thing I could possibly think of is that there are not enough Bairn Croft residences for all the people who so desperately need them.
I wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend Bairn Croft as genuinely Good People

My son was diagnosed with a serious mental illness 25 years ago. During that time he was moved around several times trying to find the best care available to him. We never found the right fit for him and he deteriorated drastically and was very hard to manage resulting in frequent hospital stays and police involvement. Last August when he was at his lowest, we got placement for him at Bairn Croft. The change in him is drastic. The care he is receiving from the staff has been life changing for all of us but most importantly for my son. He is clean, well groomed, is getting the medical attention he needs and has programs in place to help him continue to progress. I quickly found out unlike the other places he has been, this is not just supportive living but truly a treatment center. My son now reaches out to me daily just to have a pleasant conversation or share a laugh. He is happy and content and is getting a quality of life back. This is something I have not experienced in many years. I feel like I got my son back. His progress is a testament to the wonderful care and treatment he receives from Bairn Croft staff.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone at Bairncroft who helped us in the transition for our son. We truly feel that the house where he was placed is a very good fit for him. It is situated in a beautiful and peaceful environment and the staff have all shown to be very caring and loving individuals.
