We recently travelled back home to enjoy some time away — reconnecting with loved ones and taking in the calm and comfort of being together.
These moments are more than just a change of scenery. They’re a chance to revisit familiar places, share stories, and strengthen connections that mean the most. Whether it’s a quiet visit by the lake or time spent around the table with family, every moment helps remind us of the warmth and support that define home.
It’s these simple, shared experiences that make every trip home so special.
There’s something about stepping away from the usual routine that makes the simple things feel special. We spent the week surrounded by trees, with nights spent stargazing and mornings by the fire. Cooking breakfast outside set the pace for days that unfolded slowly and naturally.
It wasn’t about packing in activities or rushing anywhere. Instead, it was about enjoying time together, listening to the sounds of the woods, and finding quiet moments in nature.
We spent the day walking the Mer Bleue boardwalk, taking in the open skies, mossy trails, and the calm, quiet beauty all around us.
The bog is about 7,700 years old and is home to many rare plants, birds, and other wildlife. It’s one of the Greenbelt’s most unique natural features!
We loved spotting the different plants and listening to the birds. Strolling along the boardwalk felt like a little escape from the everyday—Mer Bleue has a way of making every walk feel special.
Last week, Branches Day Program enjoyed a memorable outing to Parc Omega in Montebello, Quebec. The park offers a unique drive-through experience where visitors can explore forests, meadows, and lakes while discovering North American wildlife up close.
Participants had the chance to see animals like elk, bison, and wolves, and the highlight of the day was when a few friendly deer came right up to the vehicles—especially hoping for carrots!
This week, Branches Day Program spent the day volunteering at the Ottawa Mission. Together, we helped prepare and serve meals, giving our time to support people in need across the community.
It was a meaningful way to step outside of our daily routines, connect with others, and contribute to an organization that provides vital services in Ottawa. From lending a hand in the kitchen to sharing a smile with those we met, the experience reminded us how small actions can make a big difference.
We’re proud of the spirit of teamwork and kindness shown by everyone who took part. A big thank-you to the Ottawa Mission for welcoming us and for the important work they do every day.
Nothing says summer like a day at the Navan Fair! Our visit was full of activity from start to finish. We explored the fairgrounds, enjoyed the rides, and tried our luck at a variety of games. A few lucky winners brought home prizes, adding to the fun of the day.
The food was a highlight. Cotton candy our treat of choice. It was a great way to spend time together and enjoy the fair’s many activities. We left with prizes in hand and plenty of good memories from the day.
What happens when you mix curiosity, adventure, and a group of explorers who are ready for takeoff? You get an unforgettable visit to the Canada Aviation and Space Museum!
We recently explored one of Ottawa’s most exciting museums — and it did not disappoint. From vintage aircraft and fighter jets to space-themed exhibits and a real Canadarm, the museum took us on a journey through Canada’s rich aviation and space history.
Thanks to everyone who made this visit possible!
There’s something special about the first catch of the season. The sun on the water, the quiet excitement, and that satisfying tug on the line, it all came together for a great day out.
We spent some time by the water, enjoying the fresh air, and a peaceful moment in nature. And to top it off… we caught our first fish of the year!
Here’s to more small adventures, big smiles, and memories made outdoors.
There’s something about a sunset that invites us to slow down. In the heart of Canada’s Capital, few places offer that golden-hour glow quite like the edge of the Ottawa River.
Whether you’re taking it in from a quiet bench or pausing during an evening stroll, sunsets here are a gentle reminder to appreciate the simple moments. It’s no surprise we keep coming back. The views never get old, and neither does the feeling.
We had the chance to visit the Robert Plante Greenhouse recently, and it was such a refreshing experience. As soon as we stepped inside, we were greeted by colourful plants and the fresh, earthy smell that only a greenhouse can offer.
We wandered through the space, taking our time and enjoying the quiet atmosphere. Every section had something new to see, vibrant flowers, leafy greens, and rows of plants growing happily in the warm light.
There’s something special about the first few warm weekends of the season, when the sun stays out a little longer and the community comes alive. That’s exactly what we felt at the Orleans Fun Fair this weekend!
With blue skies overhead and the sounds of laughter filling the air, the fair was the perfect way to kick off the sunny season. Families, friends, and fairgoers of all ages came together to enjoy the classic rides, colourful games, and sweet treats. Events like this remind us how great it is to get outside, explore the community, and make new memories, especially when the weather plays along.
We recently visited Proulx Farm to learn about maple syrup production and spend time outdoors. At the sugar shack, we saw how sap is collected and turned into syrup. We also had a chance to meet the farm animals and enjoy the fresh air.
Thank you to Proulx Farm for the warm welcome and a meaningful look at a spring tradition.

Winter in Canada brings plenty of snow, and we make the most of it by bundling up and heading outside. Whether sledding down hills, making snow angels, or simply enjoying the crisp air, we find ways to stay active and embrace the season.

Our recent visit to the Diefenbunker Museum gave us a close look at Canada’s Cold War history. This underground bunker was built in 1959 to protect government officials in case of a nuclear attack and showed how the country prepared for a tense, secretive time.
During the tour, we saw rooms filled with historical artifacts, from the bunker’s planning areas to vintage furniture and emergency supplies. We learned about the steps taken to keep Canadians safe during uncertain times.

We recently had a wonderful day at the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum, where we stepped back into the 1920s and ’30s to see what rural life was like in early 20th-century Ontario. Seeing this region from the air was truly a highlight and gave us a view you can’t get from the ground.
Ever wonder what a day at a fire station is like?
