Sauce, cheese, and plenty of toppings set the stage for a hands-on evening in the kitchen.
Everyone had the chance to build their own pizza, choosing what went on and how it came together. Some kept it simple, others tried something new, and a few loaded theirs up with just about everything.
The process was easygoing and fun, with lots of conversation, and a steady flow of pizzas coming out of the oven. Good food and a relaxed atmosphere made it a great way to spend the evening.

Recently, we came together to recognize Inuit Day. The day was filled with opportunities to share traditional foods, enjoy each other’s company, and celebrate our connection to Inuit culture.
It was wonderful to see colleagues and community members come together, share stories, and enjoy the experience in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

The holiday season gave us many reasons to slow down and enjoy time together. We shared special moments opening gifts, being visited by Santa, exploring Christmas markets, and spending time with one another.
These experiences brought plenty of smiles and helped make the season feel meaningful and joyful.
Thank you to everyone who helped make our Christmas celebrations so special. As we move into the new year, we’re grateful for these moments and the people who made them possible.

This weekend, our community gathered for the annual BCRS Christmas Brunch, a chance to come together and celebrate the season.
The morning was spent sharing good food, conversation, and time with one another, creating meaningful moments and connections across our community.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the event possible. Your time, care, and teamwork played an important role in creating such a welcoming day. A special thank-you to Santa and Mrs. Claus for stopping by and bringing holiday cheer to everyone who joined us.

In honour of Remembrance Day, our team came together to make a wreath as a meaningful way to remember and pay our respects to those who served. This gesture gave us a moment to reflect on their courage, their sacrifices, and the lasting impact they have made on our communities.
We are grateful today and every day for the individuals who have served and continue to serve. Their contributions will never be forgotten.

Halloween was full of creativity, costumes, and fun across all our programs this year! Everyone got into the spirit and made it a celebration to remember.
A big thank-you to Branches Day Program for hosting an amazing Halloween dance party. The music, decorations, and energy made for a frightfully good time!

This past weekend, we headed to Saunders Farm for a day filled with fresh air, laughter, and the best of fall colours. We spent the afternoon wandering through the pumpkin patch in search of the perfect one — the perfect way to slow down and enjoy time together.
We ended the day with a Thanksgiving meal, shared among friends, a cozy reminder of what this season is all about, connection, gratitude, and good company.

This past week, we gathered for BCRS Appreciation Day — a chance to pause, connect, and celebrate our community.
The afternoon was filled with good food, good company, and plenty of laughter. Thanks to our friends at Fat Les's chip stand, everyone enjoyed hot dogs, poutine, and a variety of treats.
More than just a meal, the day was a reminder of what truly makes our community special: the people who are part of it. Taking time to come together allowed us to reflect on the bonds we share and the support we offer one another every day.
The day was about recognizing the kindness, care, and spirit that make this community a place where everyone belongs.

There’s something special about seeing residents take on new roles and responsibilities—and lately, there’s been no shortage of hard work around here. Bairnecessities, our new hygiene and household essentials store, was created to make everyday items more accessible for residents—and it’s also where they’ve been proudly stepping in to help.
From organizing materials to assisting with daily tasks, our residents have embraced their roles with enthusiasm and care. These opportunities offer more than routine—they build purpose, confidence, and independence.
We’re so proud of the effort and pride they bring to every shift. Keep up the great work!

There’s nothing like a summer visit to the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum. With hands-on exhibits, beautiful open grounds, and plenty of space to explore, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a slower-paced afternoon.
During our recent visit, we wandered through the interactive displays, learned more about Canada’s farming history, and even had an encounter with one of the farm’s curious residents. It’s always a treat to see who you might spot along the way.

There was no shortage of laughter and teamwork as we gathered around a Stitch-themed puzzle this week. Everyone jumped in to find the right pieces, working together one section at a time — and celebrating each connection along the way.
Once the puzzle came together, we shifted gears into a bracelet-making session. With beads of every colour spread across the table, creativity took the lead. It was a wonderful afternoon filled with conversation and plenty of laughter.

We marked Canada Day with a joyful celebration full of fun, food, and community spirit.
The afternoon kicked off with a delicious barbecue, followed by festive crafts that brought out everyone's creativity. The day wrapped up with a colourful fireworks display — a perfect way to end the celebration.

Last week, we celebrated Easter with a fun egg hunt. Everyone joined in, searching for eggs and enjoying the excitement of the day.
The hunt was followed by sweet rewards, with treats for all! It was a great way to spend time together and celebrate the season.
As the day came to a close, we appreciated the moments shared and look forward to next year’s celebration!

Throughout February, BCRS held a Random Acts of Kindness Contest, encouraging thoughtful gestures to brighten someone's day.
We prepared breakfast for colleagues, baked a cake for another program, shared music with friends and more.
While the challenge offered a prize, the real reward was the sense of connection and community we built along the way. Acts of kindness, no matter how small, create lasting bonds. By continuing to support and uplift one another, we nurture a compassionate and engaged community.

While Valentine’s Day originated as a tradition honoring St. Valentine, it has since evolved into a time to share kindness and appreciation in many ways. This year’s celebration was a reminder of the importance of connection and community.
We marked the occasion by creating arts and crafts, decorating our space, and spending quality time together. It was a day of creativity, laughter, and shared moments that brought everyone together.

On New Year’s Eve, we gathered to celebrate and enjoy quality time together, creating a meaningful and fun way to welcome 2025 while reflecting on the moments that brought us closer.

This week, we had the wonderful opportunity to meet Santa Claus! Dressed in festive onesies and Santa hats, we gathered by the tree to welcome the big man in red. The room was filled with laughter as Santa confirmed what we already knew… we’ve all earned a spot on the nice list this year!
Santa surprised us with gifts for everyone, adding an extra touch of magic to the day. Though, after he left, we couldn’t help but notice something—our cookie supply seemed to mysteriously shrink!

You make a mean brunch, Mr. Grinch!
Our BCRS Grinchmas Brunch was a day to remember! The event brought together our community to celebrate the holidays with festive fun, delicious food, and great company.
Even The Grinch himself made an appearance! Though he began grouchy, the holiday spirit quickly spread. By the end, even the Grinch joined the celebration, his heart growing three sizes. It was a perfect reminder of the joy the season brings when we come together.
A huge thank you to everyone who planned and organized this incredible event. Your hard work ensured everyone enjoyed a magical day filled with laughter and connection.
