Hey, I’m Aimie! I’m a Residential Supervisor at Steamer or as I like to call it, Steamboat. While some people enjoy traveling from house to house, Steamboat and its eclectic bunch of individuals who have always held a special place in my heart.
Picking just one favourite moment with BCRS is tough. Being a bit of a dinosaur here means I’ve had so many! I started out in the kid sector, and it’s been amazing to watch some of those little ones grow into wonderful adults. One memory that really stands out for me was going up North with the twins.
On a personal note, a current goal of mine has been settling in with my partner. I’ve slowly moved in along with my fur babies, who have fully taken over his space, and I’ve been working on decluttering things that don’t hold much value (while gently trying to convince him to do the same). The main goal is truly making space for even more of my stuff.
Outside of work, I share a big passion for the arts with my mom. We’re often off to concerts, festivals, musicals, or plays together it’s something that brings us closer and is always a highlight in my life.
When I first started at BCRS, I was working an evening shift one late fall when a tiny orange kitty appeared at Steamer’s door, crying in the cold. She stayed on the porch until I finished my shift, and I ended up taking her home. (Don’t worry, I checked with the neighbours to make sure she wasn’t missing!) She’s been my sidekick ever since, and we’ve been inseparable.
Some days get busy, and you have to remember to replenish yourself with snacks! Being gluten-free means I have to mix things up, but when I want a little sweetness, Welch’s fruit snacks are my go-to. If I’m craving something savoury, rice crackers with cheese always hit the spot.

Staff help the girls to strengthen and maintain their skills so they can be as independent as possible.
My favorite BCRS moment was my trip to Iqaluit, Nunavut. I escorted our client on a home visit up North. We spent a week enjoying sights. Our client made special memories with family and took many photos. We saw all the sights and enjoyed the pristine beauty Iqaluit has to offer. We immersed ourselves in the culture, eating the freshest country food. I got to try foods I would never have had the chance to try anywhere else. Foods like whale blubber, artic clams, caribou, seal and artic char. We saw sled dogs working and went in real igloos. It was a once in a lifetime experience.
